Without Trust, We Can’t Thrive.

**Without trust, we can’t thrive.** When I spoke before the Government of Canada in 2023, I was asked about safety in sport. What I said that day applies to every team, every athlete, every coach, and every parent. When people feel unsafe or unheard, they move into defence mode. They play small, stop creating, and lose joy. Trust is not soft. It is what allows sport to teach courage, teamwork, and respect. It grows through mutual care, mutual interest, and mutual dignity. **Without trust, we might still move forward, but the effort becomes heavier, and the journey takes more from us than it gives.** **The work before us is twofold: to face what is unfolding in the world, and to look honestly at what is happening within and between us.
