Heading - Airborne
Content Description
● Instead of grounding the legs in preparation, players should remain on the balls of the feet, ready to move. ● While analysing the flight of the incoming ball, a run is made towards it, as players executing a jumping header want to attack the ball, rather than wait for it to arrive ● When the body is airborne, the arms are often thrusted back as the upper torso snaps forward, providing the header with pace and direction. ● Timing is the crucial element, and with both player and ball in motion, this can be difficult. ● The running jump must be initiated at the right moment to allow the centre of the forehead to connect with the centre of the ball.
